How does Pacifico not make this list! Bohemia is a solid choice, but so are Pacs! Always go brown bottles…

Definitely agree with Bohemia. As we speak, I have some in the ‘fridge. I also like the fact that they use brown bottles instead of green or clear, which seems to be the norm. Dos Equis is another beer I enjoy. Tecate is ok, but I will take that any day over Corona, Sol and Modelo.

Have yet to try Carta Blanca, but I will. Bohemia, however will always be my “anchor” in terms of Mexican brews.

I think Negra Modela is a close 2nd to the Bohemia. Dos Equis is suprisingly refreshing as well. Nothing like authentic Mexican fare with some Bohemia or Modela. Tengo hambre mi amigo!

I agree that Dos Equis is surprisingly good as well. Had a couple at my favorite Mexican restaurant and it was perfect.

If you are going to put Tecate and Carona in the dicussion, why not Victoria?

I was enjoying some dos equis amber on tap last night ….very good—–Matt, when will we see an article on beer-food pairings. Like the best beer to have with hot wings or steak/beer combos. This is riveting stuff.

Pacifico would go in the place of Cristal for sure, but it’s better than Corona or Carta Blanca. Also Victoria is an excellent amber-type beer that is better than Dos Equis. Bohemia also now makes a Weizen beer that is excellent. There are up and coming Mexican microbrewers as well like Calavera and Cucapa making high quality beers.

Thanks for the info Dave, I would definitely like to give those a tumble. The Weizen especially!

I think Pacifico should replace Cristal on the list. Not just because it’s from Mexico (where Cristal isn’t) but because it’s balanced by being not too bold and refreshing at the same time.
