With today being officially the first day of summer, the Whiskey Goldmine would like to break out some classic cocktail recipes that will help you cool off and relax. Whether in a heat wave, relaxing on the beach or cooking out on the deck, the classic mojito cocktail is perfect for any summertime occasion.

The Cruzan Rum White Mojito

1.5 parts Cruzan Aged Light Rum

2 sprigs of fresh mint (approx 10 mint leaves)

1 tsp. sugar Juice of half a lime, plus an extra wedge for garnish

Club soda Directions: Muddle the mint leaves with sugar and fresh lime juice in a sturdy, tall glass. Fill the glass with ice, add rum and stir. Top off glass with club soda. Garnish with lime wedge.

    Definitely my all-time favorite summer cocktail. For variety, try the “Havana” version by adding a splash of Angostura bitters to cut the sweetness. It adds depth to the flavor and takes the drink to a whole other level.
