Introducing the Crown Royal XR LaSalle Canadian Whisky

Crown Royal XR Lasalle Introducing the Crown Royal XR LaSalle Canadian WhiskyNews Wire – Whether celebrating the birth of a child, helping a buddy christen that new boat or simply enjoying the fact you finally made a pot of chili to rival your old man’s, there are certain moments in life so special, they warrant a drink as rare as the moment itself. Catering to those moments, Crown Royal will soon be introducing the second variant to its Extra Rare Whisky Series – Crown Royal XR, made from the remaining whiskies of the renowned LaSalle Distillery.

Developed by Crown Royal Master Blender Andrew MacKay, the exquisite 80 proof blend (40% ABV) is crafted with a small reserve of the final batch of LaSalle whiskies to create a refined fusion of dried fruits and honey in a harmonious balance with the spicy notes of Canadian rye. The aroma of this Crown Royal XR conjures hints of pear with complimentary floral bouquet notes. The honeyed pear maintains upon first taste and is joined by tones of dried apricot and raisins midpalate. The finish is exquisite with an elegant touch of cocoa and brown sugar.

This blend is special for MacKay as he spent his earlier years learning his craft at the LaSalle Distillery. It also marks the second extra rare whisky for the brand after releasing the original, crafted from the Waterloo Distillery whiskies, in 2006. As part of this on-going Series, each Crown Royal XR blend will be created from a batch of rare whiskies and available for a limited time.

The new Crown Royal XR will be available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $129.99 for a 750 ml bottle beginning in early June.

· An online product review in advance of national distribution to give them a sneak peek before it hits shelves

· Inclusion in a Father’s Day gift guide so readers can give Dad something as rare as pops himself

· Any long lead features you’re working on involving rare spirits or front of book, top-end product suggestions. This would also be great for 2012 holiday gift guides!

The Crown Royal Cask No 16 Cognac Finish Canadian Whisky

Crown Royal Cask No 16 Cognac Finish The Crown Royal Cask No 16 Cognac Finish Canadian WhiskyA Canadian Blend Matured in Cognac Casks

By Matt Goldstein

The Crown Royal Cask No 16 is a blended Canadian Whisky made up of more than 50 different individually aged whiskies.  Winning the award of best Canadian Whisky of the year by Malt Advocate, the Crown Royal No 16 is a hand crafted blend. The whiskey is matured for the majority of its aging in whiskey barrels but then transferred to oak cognac barrels made from the Limousin forest in France.  The cognac casks are marked with the signature 16 to indicate their place of origin in Limousin.  This is an exceptional Canadian Whisky, with character and complexity not often found in Canadian Blends.  For the first time ever, Crown Royal Master Blender Andrew Mackay brought together Crown Royal Whisky with Cognac.

Crown Royal Cask No 16 Tasting Notes:

With scents of oak, malts, grains and sugar, and a sweet scent with slight hint of honey or syrup, the Crown Royal Cask No 16 is a very smooth whisky.  More complex than the average Canadian whisky but sometimes too smooth and a thin mouth feel with thin smooth finish the flavors of oak are very cognac esque while the flavors of grain distinct to Crown Royal.  This is a very good whiskey for a Canadian Blend.  We highly recommend this for Cognac drinkers.  Priced at about $70.

Crown Royal’s Canadian Whisky Pass the Crown Holiday Contest: See Below for Possible Prizes

Crown Royal Pass the Crown Contest 300x199 Crown Royals Canadian Whisky Pass the Crown Holiday Contest: See Below for Possible PrizesCrown Royal’s Ninja Pollyanna Contest with Ipads & Kindle Fire’s

By Matt Goldstein

A few weeks ago, we told our fans that we would be participating in the Crown Royal Pass the Crown holiday contest.  Crown Royal Canadian Whisky is giving away prizes to all blogs participating, including Whiskey Goldmine.  Now, Crown Royal just sent me an email with our gift hidden behind the picture of a crown royal bag as shown in the picture on the top left.  We don’t know what the gift is, but our clue is “prized possessions need a proper home.”  What could it be?  A bar?  A dishwasher?  A flat screen?  A toothbrush?  Who knows.  We can either accept the gift, or we can steal a gift from the other blogs listed below.  The prizes include an Ipad 2, Kindle Fire and an all expense paid trip to a NASCAR event in Indianapolis.  There’s only one catch, the flour blogs still waiting to receive a gift, can steal our prize and we can get stuck with something totally unknown.  What to do, what to do.  Check out the list of gifts below and tells us what you think.  Should keep our secret gift that could be anything, or should we steal the Ipad 2’s from the chumps below who have no chance of keeping those?  We have one goal and that is to stomp out these other blogs that think they got anything on us.

Crown Royal Canadian Whisky: Pass the Crown Holiday Contest

PassTheCrown Crown Royal Canadian Whisky Crown Royal Canadian Whisky: Pass the Crown Holiday Contest#PassTheCrown: Whiskey Goldmine Readers with Chance to Win Prizes

By Matt Goldstein

Whiskey Goldmine will be competing with 25 other blogs in the #PassTheCrown holiday contest sponsored by Crown Royal Canadian Whisky.  Yup, there’s no “E” in Canadian Whisky, however there is lots of prizes for the holidays, like Ipads, bottles of whiskey, Omaha Steaks and parties.  And if our fans help us participate, they will get to see a piece of the prizes.  Whatever we win, one lucky fan will win.  The blogs we are competing with are already receiving their gifts every day.  They can either accept the gift, or #PassTheCrown.  Our turn will be on December 9th, and we will receive the gift at 9 am.  Being that December 9th is my birthday, I’m feeling lucky.  The reader or fan that helps us participate the most and crush the other blogs in the #PassTheCrown contest will be rewarded with holiday cheer and bling.  We’re gonna take the prizes they want, and send those other inferior blogs, prizes that we think are beneath us.

Crown Royal Reserve Blended Canadian Whisky

crown royal reserve blended canadian whiskey pic 160x300 Crown Royal Reserve Blended Canadian WhiskyHandpicked Barrels by Master Blender Andrew MacKay

By Matt Goldstein

The Crown Royal Reserve Blended Canadian Whisky is selected from less than 1% of the Crown Royal Whiskey stash.  Considered a five star whiskey from the Spirit Journal, the blend is more focused on a bourbon and spicy rye style than the traditional Crown Royal blend.  Created by the Master Blender Andrew Mackay, Crown Royal Reserve barrels are off limits to anyone else at the distillery.  The barrels are literally marked “to be opened by the Master Blender only!”  The new bottles of Crown Royal Reserve come with a beautiful golden velvet bag and a personal letter from Andrew Mackay.

The cap has a spicy scent, and the nose of the glass is slightly sweet, a little sour and a hint of bourbon.  The Crown Royal Reserve has a complex mouth feel with a beautiful bite.  The Reserve blend is very bourbon esque with sweet corn and with spicy rye notes.  This Canadian Whiskey has longing warmth with notes of oak, wood, grain, cinnamon and vanilla.  Remarkably smooth, but with a distinct character, the Crown Royal Reserve is an exceptional and classic whiskey.  We love this whiskey!
