The holidays are a time to bust out that bad sweater that’s been providing sustenance to the moths in your closet for the 11 months. You know the one, the one that you think you look good in, but has been outdated since 1994.
But also, it’s the time to gather with friends and family and eat all of those small little appetizers after a hard, cold December week at work. When I think of eggnog, all that comes to mind is Clark W. Griswold, chugging his eggnog out of a crystal reindeer mug at the notion that cousin Eddie is going to stay for the whole month.
Believe me, the holidays can be stressful with the shopping, the gatherings, the end of the year closing of the books etc. Therefore, WhiskeyGoldmine had concocted the perfect holiday beverage to ease the pain of your holiday blues… By the way it is also delicious.
4 egg yolks
1 (5 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 1/2 cups milk
4 egg whites
1/2 cup Captain Morgan spiced rum
1/4 cup Southern Comfort
1 ounce of Old Grandad Bourbon
1 quart of Haegen Daaz Vanilla Ice Cream softened
In a large pot, beat the egg yolks until thickened and somewhat light. Slowly add the milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and condensed milk. Separately beat the egg whites until they are stiffened then add them to your mixture. Next add the ice cream and nutmeg and cinnamon to taste. Beat until well mixed and then serve.
Serve with a cinnamon stick garnish with a sprinkle of nutmeg and if you got those Griswold Reindeer mugs… you are good to go my friends!
